Otterly.AI: track where your brand stands in answers from ChatGPT and other AIs

Good tool

Every day, Otterly.AI asks ChatGPT, Perplexity, Google’s AI Overviews and Copilot the questions your customers ask, then records whether your brand appears in the answers, in what position, next to which competitors and with which sources to back it up. The result is a dashboard of your visibility in AI answers, tracked over time, along with ideas for getting cited more often. Its easy onboarding and low-priced entry plan have made it the usual starting point for marketing teams getting into GEO.

What is Otterly.AI?

It all starts with prompts: questions written the way a customer would ask them, such as “best trail running shoe for beginners” or “which payroll software for a small business.” You enter them in a brand report, along with your competitors, your country and your language, and Otterly.AI sends them to the tracked engines every day. Four are included in the subscription (ChatGPT, Google AI Overviews, Perplexity and Microsoft Copilot), while Google AI Mode, Gemini and Claude are available as add-ons. Every answer is archived and broken down: whether the brand is mentioned, its position in the list, the tone used, the competitors cited and the links given as sources. These records feed coverage, share of voice and sentiment metrics, along with recommendations for improving your pages. Around this core, the tool has added a URL audit from the point of view of AI crawlers, a module that detects visits from those crawlers and agents on your site, tracking of ads shown in ChatGPT, an API and a connector for Data Studio.

The tool is published by OtterlyAI GmbH, a young Austrian company founded by three SaaS veterans: Thomas Peham, former marketing lead at Storyblok, Josef Trauner, founder of Usersnap, and Klaus-M. Schremser, who also worked at Usersnap. Born from an idea in 2024, the first product launched in October of the same year, with no announced funding round. It has also been offered as an app in the Semrush App Center since early 2025, and the publisher now says tens of thousands of marketing professionals use it.

Otterly.AI review

Good tool

If you want to know whether ChatGPT or Perplexity talk about your brand without spending your days on it, Otterly.AI is one of the most accessible ways into GEO. You create a report, add your prompts and competitors, and the first results arrive the next day. The interface stays clear, the tables can be read without training, and the Lite plan lets you get a feel for it for the price of a streaming subscription. A few screens take some getting used to, and the tool can be slow at times, but the whole thing is designed for marketing teams more than for engineers.

You still need to know what you are measuring. Otterly.AI doesn’t see what your customers actually ask AIs: it asks questions you have chosen itself, once a day, from a given country. And answers from ChatGPT and the like vary from one session to another and depending on the wording. Visibility scores therefore show a trend, useful for comparing your brand with competitors and tracking the effect of content work, not an exact market share. You are better off tracking many prompts close to your business than fixating on the score of a single question.

That is also where the bill gets heavier. Fifteen prompts are enough to try the tool, not to cover several product lines, markets or languages; at that point you have to move up to $189 a month, and each extra engine, Gemini, AI Mode or Claude, comes as an add-on. For a small business, the real cost quickly exceeds the entry price. Finally, like all measurement tools, Otterly.AI points out the gaps and suggests ideas, but the work that actually improves visibility, content, source pages, presence on the sites being cited, is still up to you.

Strengths

  • Quick to learn, with reports you can read without technical knowledge.
  • A low-priced entry plan, rare in this market, and a trial with no credit card.
  • Daily tracking of the four major engines, including competitors and cited sources.
  • Useful modules around tracking: GEO audit, AI crawlers, ads in ChatGPT.
  • Unlimited team members and brand reports from the first plan.

Weaknesses

  • Measurement based on simulated questions, which shows a trend rather than real usage.
  • Fifteen prompts on Lite: quickly too few for a site with many products or markets.
  • Gemini, Google AI Mode and Claude cost extra, plan by plan.
  • A big price jump between Lite and Standard.
  • Some slowness and a learning curve on the most detailed screens.

Is Otterly.AI worth it?

Yes, if you want to start tracking your presence in AI answers without the budget for a full SEO suite: an online brand, a small business, or a consultant or agency that needs to show clients where they stand in ChatGPT. The Lite plan is enough for one brand and a handful of key questions, and Standard becomes worthwhile as soon as you track several competitors, products or countries.

Not necessarily, if you expect real traffic numbers or analysis at very large scale. A brand that wants to know its visibility across millions of questions will be better off with Ahrefs Brand Radar, and one that already works in Semrush or SE Ranking can look first at their own AI visibility modules. Peec AI and Profound play on the same field as Otterly.AI, the latter mostly for large accounts. And to measure the visits AIs actually send, you need Google Analytics or Matomo, provided you create a channel group that isolates chatgpt.com, perplexity.ai or copilot.microsoft.com; otherwise those visits get lost among referral sites. As for visits coming from Google’s AI Overviews and AI Mode, they blend into organic traffic and can’t be told apart.

How much does Otterly.AI cost?

Otterly.AI is paid, with no lasting free version: a 14-day free trial, with no credit card and limited to 50 prompts, lets you test it. Plans are billed in dollars before tax, monthly or yearly with a 15% discount, and vary mainly by the number of prompts monitored daily.

Is Otterly.AI free?

Which AIs does Otterly.AI monitor?

ChatGPT, Google AI Overviews, Perplexity and Microsoft Copilot are included on all plans. Google AI Mode, Gemini and Claude can be added as options for an extra monthly fee.

Are Otterly.AI visibility scores reliable?
